PM Shore graduated from Art School in Portland, Oregon in the 1960's, attended Portland State and later the Pacific Northwest College of Art.
She has worked in Applied Arts and as a Graphic Designer, Art Director and Creative Director for ad agencies and design firms throughout the area. She also was co-owner of a full-color printing firm for 15 years and ran her own design firm.
She began painting as a child growing up in the Columbia River Gorge and this has always been her artistic preference.
Retiring from design due to vision problems, after a period of treatment, she returned to paint full-time saying, "If I have to struggle, I want to do something I love!!"
She now exhibits with several area galleries, shows and festivals, is in demand for commissioned pieces as well as maintaining a busy studio schedule.
She starts her process on the city streets with sketchbook and camera looking for places with shapes, shadows and lights that scream 'composition.' Returning to her studio with sketches and photographs she lays out a composition. She covers the canvas with a dark ground, blocking color in the abstract, forming shadows and lights. She paints the pattern of the scene first, then follows up with color and highlights. She uses perspective to draw the viewer into the painting, forming a narrative that depicts an intimate portrait of places and people.
